Pat's early days at Dot records were spent doing covers of black artists' hits. Artists like The Flamingos. Little Richard, Otis Williams and The Charms, The El Dorados and this one by Fats Domino. It was Pat's first #1 hit and helped bring Fats into the mainstream of pop music. It was the #9 song of 1955.

The best selling version of the song was a cover version by Pat Boone, hitting number one on the Billboard charts in 1956. It has since been recorded by a variety of pop artists, big bands, country and western stars, rock and rollers, and Latin, jazz and blues performers.

"Don't Forbid Me" is a popular song by Charles Singleton. Among Singleton's huge number of compositions was "Tryin' to Get to You", which had previously been recorded by Elvis Presley at Sun Records. In 1957, "Don't Forbid Me" was a number 1 hit for Pat Boone, and also peaked at number 10 on the Most Played R&B in Juke Boxes chart.

"Love Letters in the Sand" written by J. Fred Coots, Nick Kenny. and Charles Kenny in 1931 and recorded by Pat Boone on the Dot label spent 5 weeks at number one on the Billboard Top 100 chart during June and July 1957. Pat Boone was the second biggest charting artist of the late 1950s, behind only Elvis Presley.

After a minor run-in with the law in Chicago, Nick Conover (Pat Boone) is sent to live with his aunt and uncle on their horse farm in Kentucky. There he shows a surprising talent for harness racing and catches the eye of the girl next door (Shirley Jones). This squeaky-clean box office hit remains a favorite of Boone’s, who sings the Oscar-nominated, chart-topping title song.

"Moody River" is a song written by and originally performed by country rockabilly singer Chase Webster (real name Gary Daniel Bruce, not to be confused with Gary Bruce of The Knack). Pat Boone recorded and released his own version in May 1961, where it reached number-one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart the following month. This was the title track from one of Boone's better-selling albums.
